The band name translates into, “The Order of Ogan.”
Orden Ogan is a band from Germany that transitioned from playing Folk Metal to playing Symphonic Power Metal. It’s been a while since a symphonic power metal band has gained attention like this group. In fact, they are the only Power Metal band that I have written about on this blog, so good job guys! Much of their lyrics and album art is oriented around a concept fantasy story created by the band.
“The Things We Believe In” itself was released as a single in 2012, and I think they couldn’t have picked a better song. It is inspiring, has a great melody, a thought-provoking video and great metaphorical connections to fighting the corruption of those currently in power today.
My interpretation of the song is that you feel more alive fighting for the things you believe in. If you live a life of deceit out of fear, you are already as good as dead.
We should die for the things we believe in
But live our lives in the dark self deceiving
In the snow, all the world that we knew is ice…and so we are: Cold, Dead and Gone
